I got an email from EAA that has a scan of the AV23 event shirt, that is not for sale online. Some of the planes you can make out are a Corsair in the center representing the gathering, the aforementioned Lewis Constellation, B-25, F-22, F-18/EA-18, Goodyear blimp and NASA Super Guppy! The smaller planes are difficult to decipher. The Guppy would tie in with “NASA – The Next Bold Step,” looking at the Apollo and Artemis programs, from the first steps on the moon to the next steps on the moon" on Monday of Airventure.

EAA 70th Anniversary Commemorative Beer – Coming to AirVenture 2023!

EAA turned 70 this year! One of the many ways we’re celebrating is by introducing an official commemorative beer, brewed just for us by the historic Stone Arch Brewpub just up the road in Appleton, Wisconsin. The signature brew was chosen after multiple rounds of blind taste tests by EAA members and staff. The 7 can collection will be available at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 at Red One Market Central, Red One Market West, Red One Market Southwest, and Red One Market North.

7 Collectable Cans – Designs Coming Soon!

In collaboration with Stone Arch Brewpub and with the votes cast by those who attended EAA’s inaugural Flight at the Museum fundraiser, the Kölsch has been selected as the beer celebrating 70 years of dreamers and doers in EAA’s 70th anniversary collection.

The best of both worlds, a hybrid between an ale and a lager, this classic beer style originated in Cologne, Germany. It is easy to drink, crisp, bready, and hop-forward from being finished with German Sterling hops. Balance is key, and this beer is perfectly balanced. ABV: 5.1% IBU’s: 35

The beer will be available in seven different highly-collectible cans, each featuring a key piece of EAA and our 70-year history. We’ll unveil the unique and vibrant designs for each can individually, one each week between now and AirVenture. Watch here for the official reveal of each exclusive design and start planning your visit to AirVenture 2023, the only place where the complete collection will be available.

Thank you for helping EAA celebrate 70 years of dreamers and doers!

*Available at select Red One Markets on the AirVenture grounds beginning Monday, July 24, 2023.

**Available at select retail locations in the Fox Cities from Saturday, July 1, through Monday, July 31:

Festival Foods – Oshkosh
Festival Foods – Neenah
Festival Foods – Appleton
Pick-n-Save – Oshkosh
Woodman’s – Appleton

EAA responded to my question that I asked on Facebook:

How will the 7 collectable beer cans be packaged? Will the different designs be placed together in the same box, will they be available individually, or will the designs be placed at random in boxes?

EAA 70th Anniversary AirVenture 2023 Main Event T-Shirt. Order Here: https://www.eaa.org/shop/product-detail ... pr=2718871

Information about the T-Shirt:

EAA was founded in 1953 so the Gavin Arts 2023 EAA 70th Anniversary AirVenture Main Event design is based on that era’s style and colors.

Aircraft featured in the main part of the design are, starting top left, EAA’s beautiful B-17G Aluminum Overcast with a powered parachute just below it. In the center is the 70th Anniversary EAA logo and to the right of that are the F-22 Raptor Demo ship, Bob Hoover’s Ole Yeller P-51 and the Burt Rutan VariEze that premiered at Oshkosh in 1975.

The middle section shows “Aircraft in Film & TV”. The Corsair is for Devotion, the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet and F-14 Tomcat are for Top Gun: Maverick and the original Top Gun. EAA’s B-25 Berlin Express was actually in Catch 22, and EAA’s No. 209 Corsair featured here is at Oshkosh and was Lt. Tom Hudner’s actual replacement aircraft after he purposely crash-landed to try and save Jesse Brown. Other film aircraft are the P-40 Warhawk from The Flying Tigers, the H -13 Sioux (Bell-47) from M*A*S*H, the world famous Canadair CL-215/415 firebomber as seen in The Expendables 2, and the F8F Bearcat, also from Devotion.

Below the Corsair are the behemoth NASA Super Guppy and the Goodyear Blimp which have both made memorable visits to AirVenture over the years. Also depicted in the sky over EAA’s historic Pioneer Airport are a Van’s RV, the aerobatic MX2, the classic Piper Cub, EAA’s P-64, a Cessna 170, the original Breezy now in the EAA Museum, and a Quad City Challenger.

Down the left side below the EAA Young Eagles logo are aircraft that have visited AirVenture or are EAA related including Concorde, a Baby Ace, the 1931 Pitcairn PCA-2 Autogiro Miss Champion, the Rutan Voyager, the 1949 Taylor AeroCar, the UFM Easy Riser, EAA’s Ford Trimotor, a Christen Eagle and a Bell-47. They fly over a blue and white “competition stripe” from Paul Poberezny’s EAA jacket with the current EAA logo at the bottom.

Down the right side under the EAA Eagle Flights logo are Vietnam-era aircraft including the B-52, the Bell AH-1 Cobra, the A-4 Skyhawk, the OH-6 Cayuse “Loach”, the Bell UH-1 Huey, the F-4 Phantom II, the Cessna O-1 Bird Dog, the Cessna O-2 Skymaster, and the OV-10 Bronco. They fly over the Vietnam Service Ribbon with the Service medal at the bottom.

At the bottom center is the 2023 Event theme “Celebrating 70 Years of Dreamers and Doers” that flanks a drawing of the statue at the top of EAA’s Compass Hill, depicting a young family flying small model airplanes and capturing the enchantment of aviation.

On the lower left is a drawing of the Wright Flyer as a tribute to the 120th anniversary of powered flight, and on the lower right is the tribute to 100 years of the U.S. Navy carrier aviation.

The front logo of the adult shirt is a variation of the OSHKOSH sign from the back with the 70th Anniversary EAA Logo flanked by the VC-121 Constellation and the Taylor AeroCar.

Paul and Kimberleigh Gavin of Gavin Arts created the 2023 design. Together they develop the concept, then Paul researches the aircraft and lays them out and Kimberleigh then hand draws each one. She then scans them into the computer and creates each color area on each airplane piece by piece. She also designed the type and together with her husband Paul finally organized the entire design.

Interesting lineup this year. Lots of light vintage aircraft in Warbirds in Review this year with not too many 'heavy metal' warbirds. Nice that 'Thunderbird' and the new P-47 (which has yet to fly) plan to be there and I'm certainly intrigued by the MiG-21. I wonder why Rod Lewis' C-121 and Kermit Weeks' A-26 aren't under review.

Missing out on the Connie by not going this year is going to have me kicking myself a little. I think the last time I saw one fly was at Thunder Over Michigan way back in the 2002-04 time frame. Awesome to see one in the air again though!

I wonder if they'll just tow the EAA MiG-21 that's always displayed on the grounds over to Warbird Alley for Warbirds in Review or whether a flyable one is coming in.

My guess is it's Dan Filer's MiG-21 that's coming! He had it at Sun N Fun.

You are thinking of the -23 :)

My guess is it will be the EAA -21 but I hope I'm wrong!
