Anyone know which runway the show typically uses? I see two SW to NE oriented and one N & S. The longest SW to NE oriented is 6L/ 24R, the shorter SW to NE runway is 6R / 24L and then the N & S runway.

Typically they use the longer 24R/6L for the show, but some arrivals will come in on the other runway.

Thanks. I'm stopping over Dayton Sat the 22nd passing through with my fam. Was wondering if anyone knew a spot where I can watch the show outside the grounds but in relatively close enough proximity to have a good view. I'm sure the businesses north of that runway will be inaccessible on Old Springfield Rd and Peters Rd.

Make this show one to remember by taking a ride in the B-25 Champaign Gal at this years’ CenterPoint Energy Dayton Air Show Presented by Kroger!

The @champaignaviationmuseum, based in Urbana, OH, will be showcasing the historic B-25 Champaign Gal by offering rides to a limited number of passengers who reserve and purchase a seat. Built in 1944 by North American, the aircraft served with the USAAF for 13 years and was used as a trainer, transport and personnel transport. This is a special offer to experience this piece of history - FIRST HAND!

Visit the Champaign Aviation Museum site below to secure your ride in this living piece of history! https://www.champaignaviationmuseum.org/

Worst of all, last year they did a terrible job of credential checks at the pit entrance. I wound up shooting the last half of Sunday with an uncredentialed dude with a cell phone crowding me. I'm yet undecided on going this year, but leaning toward shooting Friday practice and going to the museum on the weekend instead of the show. If I do go, I'll probably spend little time in the pit and go exploring general admission for different angles. The map just updated on the website recently, and the pit is the same place it was last year.
You paid $150 for a photo pass, and a guy with a cell phone was crowding you? I used to go to Dayton back in the '80's during the Cold War when there were 100+ military aircraft on display. That was when it was the Air and Trade show every other year. There was a bunch of us that all knew each other, and we were all polite, and pretty helpful.

Screw that! He would have been escorted out if it had been me he was crowding. That's if he wasn't literally carried out by all of us that were there shooting.

Additionally. It's a sad thing that people are getting charged that kind of money nowadays. I remember going to the London Airshow in the '80's, and the cost for the photo tour was nowhere near that kind of money.
Unfortunately, dealing with the interloper would have required giving up a spot at the fence at a critical part of the show. He did wind up getting a lens hood to the back of the head a few times, but didn't get the hint, so everyone else just dealt with it. In hindsight I wish we'd handled it differently. Regardless, they need to do better this year at managing the pit entrance.

The $150 for the full weekend photo pit/tour is, for better or worse, a bargain compared to what I'm paying for the *practice day* photo package at Thunder Over Michigan and especially the full weekend photo package at Airshow London. I consider all to be worth the money, as I'm working hard on my photography this year, but man is it salty.
