Chris Darnell, driver of the Shockwave Jet Truck, was killed in an accident today while performing at the airshow in Battle Creek, Michigan.

This might be too soon to ask this question, but I wonder what the future is for the Darnell’s in airshows?

I know the have the 2 Flash Fire’s and AFTERSHOCK in the stable.

AFTERSHOCK performed this past weekend in Goshen, IN so it appears they will finish the 2022 season.

Their website has the Hot Streak II (former Super Shockwave) listed for 2 upcoming dates, so it looks like they’ve contracted Hayden and Smoke n Thunder to fill a couple dates so far.

On July 13, 2022, at Chris Darnell's funeral, a missing man aerial salute took place.

The aircraft that took part in the flyover included:
Matt Younkin - Beech C18S
Ken Reider - 2018 Van's RV-8
Joe Shetterly - Van's RV-8
Brian Correll - 1979 Pitts S-2

On September 2, 2022, the Darnell Racing Enterprises made an announcement regarding the continuation of their operations which includes still performing for their fans.
