Madison Airshow
September 24, 2022
Madison Municipal Airport (IMS)
Madison, Indiana

Website:
https://www.madisonmunicipalairport.com ... IJ2zbH-FC8

Featuring
Emerson Stewart - Champion Citabria
Brock Aldrich - Sonex Microjet
Team Redline - RV and MX
Cliff Robinson - Super Chipmunk
Robert "Tico" LaCerda - Pitts
L-39 Albatross - Tab Brinkman
C-54 Skymaster "Spirit of Freedom"
PBY Catalina - Historical Air Tours [rides]
C-45 Expediter - CAF Indiana Wing [rides]
PT-26 Cornell - CAF Indiana Wing [rides]
BT-13 Valiant - CAF Indiana Wing [rides]
PT-17 Stearman - Cliff Robinson [rides]
UH-1 Huey - Columbus Indiana Huey
Bell 407 - PHI Air Medical

Both participants per the airport Facebook page. I wouldn't put much stock in what's on the website yet - all but the C-54 are holdovers from last year. The rest of the lineup should be pretty similar to what's posted though.

Lineup updated on the website. I may go check this out. Opportunities to see a C-54 and PBY in the air at an airshow are rare. I don't think I've seen either type fly more than maybe three or four times each in my 30-ish years of attending airshows.

Fun little show. I could have left my chair in my vehicle. Close to the action, easy to move around, a full ramp and well-supported by the community.

I came to see the C-54 and PBY in the air and both aircraft flew as advertised. I wish they had flown more passes, but any number is more than you'd see at most airshows that book these aircraft. I think this was maybe the third or fourth time I'd seen each type fly. Add some local aerobatics, WWII trainers and Huey, and you have an airshow.

I wish this hadn't been the same day as the Tri-State Warbird Museum showcase, which is an annual favorite of mine, but I'm still glad I went. This show has been gaining momentum in booking interesting aircraft over the last three years and it was fun to finally check it out.

Some PBY pics. You don't get to stand under the wingtip when a twin-engined radial fires up at most shows!

Local pilot Cliff Robinson was honored by the FAA for more than 50 years of safe flying. Cliff has been a familiar sight at small airport shows in Indiana with his Super Stearman and Super Chipmunk acts over the years. His performance in the Super Chipmunk today was his final airshow performance.

I'm not sure. I was over by the helicopters while Redline was flying and couldn't hear the announcers very well. Sorry!
