The Italian Air Force has released the 2023 schedule of civilian organised domestic airshows which will see participation by Il Frecce Tricolori.

2023 is a significant year for Il Frecce Tricolori with the Aeronautica Militare celebrating its centenary. The centrepiece of the celebrations is to be a major event at Practica di Mare in June which is not included in this list of civilian displays.

The following displays are all coordinated by Aero Club d’Italia which is working with the Aeronautica Militare to support the programme and ensure the centenary celebrations are seen across Italy.

The Frecce Tricolori are getting a special scheme (or maybe multiple special schemes as in 2021) for this season. The full scheme/schemes will be unveiled on the 28th of this month, the day of the main centenary flyover in Rome.

A look at the six special tail designs for the 2023 season, some of which have been applied to more than one aircraft.

The Italian Air Force says there will be no Frecce Tricolori displays until at least the 2nd of June. The show in Pietrasanta has been cancelled, and all other scheduled displays for May 2023 will be rescheduled for later this year.

Local media from one of the regions affected reports that a former Pony 5 pilot will be re-trained and will hopefully be show-ready in June. In the event the new pilot is not ready to perform in public at that point, he and his opposite number will both be removed to preserve the symmetry of the formation, and the team will fly as an 8-ship.

All this accompanied by the usual caveat that it's a bit difficult to be certain of the details after running this through Google Translate - some of the above informaiton could be speculation rather than fact.

For Cagliari, is it one of those flyovers? Afaik, no other European demo teams listed Cagliari in their airshow schedule so I'mma bet it's some sort of a flyover rather than a typical airshow

"Manifestazione" means "airshow". The vast majority of airshows on this list (15 out of 16) do not have participation from any other European display teams so Cagliari is in no way unusual.

I wonder why majority of the airshows is just the Frecce Tricolori flying?

It's not just the Frecce. They're the only well-known team, but there will be solo displays by the Italian Air Force at most of these events too, plus civilian displays. Just no other foreign military teams. No different to a typical mid-sized airshow in the USA or the UK, really.
