On April 19, 2023, a 1992 Aero Vodochody L-139 Darkstar #139 (N1390A) sustained substantial damage while impacting an empty barn during an apparent forced landing while on approach to Bridgeport Municipal Airport (XBP/KXBP), Bridgeport, Texas. The pilot, Dianna Stanger, 62, of Washington, Texas, sustained critical injuries. Stanger was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. The passenger, Thomas Charles, 58, of Niceville, Fla. sustained serious injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to Medical City-Denton.

April 26th update by the Reno Air Racing Association:
We are sorry to report that Jet Class racer Dianna Stanger was in an accident last week involving her Aero Vodochody L139 Albatros Darkstar.
Dianna and her passenger were seriously injured when their aircraft crashed Wednesday at about 6:30 PM local time in a field in Wise County, Texas. We are encouraged that Dianna is awake and in stable condition at the hospital.
We do not have an update on the condition of her passenger. Dianna has competed in the Sport and Jet classes at the National Championship Air Races over the last several years as she has shared her infectious passion for aviation with thousands of fans. We ask you to keep Dianna and everyone involved in your thoughts and prayers.
