Joint Base Andrews
Joint Base Andrews
Just curious why JBA is not shown on the 2023 schedule. Maybe I missed it as a rookie member. JBA occurred, apparently, at the same time as Oceana, if that is possible.

Maybe JBA 2023 never happened and the next one is in 2025?

They didn't have an airshow this year. Like most Air Force Bases (and Joint Bases), Andrews is every other year, or in this instance their next airshow will be in 2025. They had one in 2022 which was the same weekend as Oceana.

Thanks. So in this instance JBA went beyond every other year (2022-2025) if I understand you correctly.

They're not the first military base to do that.
From my many years of attending airshows, there's many Air Force and Navy installations who go the every few years route with regard to opening the doors to the public. The mission comes first and foremost and in many cases even if the base is able to host an airshow or open house, many times they'll wait until they can secure a major headlining act. By me, Dover AFB went several years before they started hosting airshows again. Same with McGuire, though Covid and a refugee mission had a say with that.
We'll know in about a month if Andrews will be hosting an airshow in 2025. My wife and I plan to be there.
