Thunder Over Louisville 2024
I have to say given the original lineup that was posted on the news publication a month or so ago compared to where we are at now is looking very disappointing. I fully understand there could be flyover additions to the final schedule we see the week of the show, but no B-1, no F-35C demo or F-35 flyovers, no Osprey, no Coast Guard, etc. really hurts. We only have 2 fighter demos with the Viper and the Growler team.
Like what was recently said, we knew the Osprey wasn't going to be there given they just started training ops again and the F-35C demo team wasn't coming once the schedule was released. Really disappointing that the B-1 cancelled. It seems to be the most elusive airshow performer for me as even when they are booked they end up cancelling let alone the rarity of their performances in general. Hopefully the final schedule has a couple of surprises and all the prior announced flyovers are all still coming- CF-18's, A-400, MH-53, etc..

According to the person I talked to the CF-18 and A400 will be there. I think the MH-53 will tooMattEv14 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 8:40 pm I have to say given the original lineup that was posted on the news publication a month or so ago compared to where we are at now is looking very disappointing. Yeah, I think historically, for various reasons the Thunder organizers don't release a "final" line-up until the week of the show (next week), or sometimes even only a day or two out.jackoliver13 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 2:56 pmThe lineup at the beginning of this forum is not updated
And as we've clearly seen here recently, the Louisville press releases about the event can't be totally trusted.

Yeah, I am a first timer here so I made the mistake of trusting themGdcole2 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 3:30 pmYeah, I think historically, for various reasons the Thunder organizers don't release a "final" line-up until the week of the show (next week), or sometimes even only a day or two out.jackoliver13 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 2:56 pmThe lineup at the beginning of this forum is not updated

Needless to say I started getting very disappointed as I watched stuff like the B-1, V-22, and F-35's drop out of the lineup

Yeah, agreed - 100% the same for me.
On the positive side, I've never seen Thunder without a pretty stacked show the last 5-10 years. This year is the 150th anniversary of the Derby, which Thunder is intended to help "kick off". I still have faith they are going to do everything they can to pull in some nice surprises for us.
In addition, the confirmed demos from the F-16 and Navy Growler teams are phenomenal, especially the Growler demo. I'd still go (which I admit is easy for me to say being 70 miles east in Lexington) if it was just that demo.

If anybody knows, what are the chances of flares from the F-16 Viper demo? I heard they're allowed to use them due to the lake through the city

I'd say high. F-35 used flares last year.midwest_photographer wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 5:38 pm If anybody knows, what are the chances of flares from the F-16 Viper demo? I heard they're allowed to use them due to the lake through the city

Depends on weather. If it's low overcast it will be a low showFlyingbrian wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2024 6:36 pmI'd say high.
